PINEHURST, N.C. — For the third straight day, Corey Conners birdied his last gap on the U.S. Open. On Saturday, it was particularly vital to shut with a circle on the scorecard.

Fellow Canadian Taylor Pendrith shot his second straight spherical of 70, though Saturday’s even-par effort was a lot much less eventful than Friday when he triple-bogeyed his last gap.
