Elegant and Energetic: Jan & Shane’s Luttrellstown Castle Wedding

Country boy meets metropolis woman, they fall in love and have a fort wedding ceremony of totally enchanting calibre! Today’s actual wedding ceremony has all of the glamorous particulars you’d hope for from a timeless black-tie bash. Inspired by the outer-worldly luxurious of their venue, Luttrellstown Castle in Co. Dublin, this breathtaking wedding ceremony exuded refined magnificence in each potential manner.

Ever fashionable bride Jan, who goes by the nickname ‘Glam Jan’ (with excellent purpose), at all times envisioned carrying a fairytale ballgown wedding ceremony costume and we all know you may fall hook, line and sinker for her Vera Wang costume. Hint: it had a shocking bow and pockets! With a sublime aesthetic and an electrical ambiance, they threw a celebration that was “all about the feels” that their 80 fortunate company will always remember. Their love story is certain to make you giggle and swoon equally. They clarify, “We met on Valentine’s night 2020. Jan’s bridesmaid had dragged her (willingly!) to a speed dating night. Marian and Jan went dancing after the event and Shane was coming from his groomsman’s wedding for a nightcap. He became lucky date #15 after asking Jan for a dance! It is clichéd, but that was it from that moment on! Shane invited Jan to day two of the wedding the very next day, she declined claiming not to be a day two wedding crasher and they met for the first of many eight-hour dinner dates on the Sunday.”

Shane was dwelling in London on the time and he moved again to Ireland later that 12 months. “Many of his UK contingency blamed Jan on the premature departure! From March, Shane and Jan were falling in love, initially there were many many video calls and dates until they moved in together later in the year. Shane and Jan travelled to Sicily, Sardinia, London, New York, US, LA, Vegas, France, Portugal, Italy, Mexico, and Turkey, and that was within 18 months! They do love to travel.”

Shane whished Jan off for a date night time at Aimsir at Cliff at Lyons to pop the query. It was an enormous shock to Jan who had truly became runners and a hoody for a stroll after their meal. “The special moment happened on the grounds of Cliff at Lyons by the water fountain. The runners and hoody are a favourite detail of the story for Glam Jan’s friends and family! Shane had gone over to her parents and asked their permission – as the true gent that he is and knowing how much that would mean to Jan (she asked shortly after the proposal, did you ask my dad?!) that meant the world to Jan and luckily her folks had kept it a secret!”.

“Shane had worried the night he visited them where he might say he was if asked – Jan was oblivious! Also oblivious to the engagement ring that Shane had picked himself and was carrying around for four days in the run up to the proposal. It was a surprise for Jan as even though Shane and Jan knew that this was it and there would be a happy ever after they had agreed to prioritise their house search and a few holidays so a wedding was not on Jan’s mind, Shane had deliberately thrown Jan off the scent! It worked and boy was it a surprise although not for their nearest and dearest – as Jan’s nana said before she passed away, ‘they were born to be together’.”

They inform us about what they wished their celebration to really feel like. “Our priorities from day one was for the day to ‘feel good’, feel like us and also enjoyable for everyone – it was all about the feels! Feeling good at the time is what makes the memory stick for everyone. Whilst we were so very focused on our guests we never forgot that the day was really about us! We love to party hard and we wanted the party to keep going as long as possible!”

They stayed at Luttrellstown Castle the night time earlier than with the marriage social gathering and household as they wished everybody to have the ability to calm down and to really feel ‘at home’ within the fort on the day. Their cute and “very loved” labradoodle Brady O’Brien (Bob) joined them on the large day and he instantly made himself at residence within the fort and within the bridal suite on arrival.

They had dinner on the golf membership adopted by drinks within the library bar. Jan reminisces, “Having all our friends and family in that room the night before the wedding was a moment I will never forget as I looked around and just thought – right here we go, it’s started and from now until leaving the castle I will savour every moment with everyone, then I had to go write my speech and throw on the eye patches.”

It was love at first sight after they visited the five-star venue a lot so it impressed the vibe of their entire celebration. “There was no way it could or would have been anywhere else! Jan suggested visiting other venues but rightfully Shane said ‘we found it’. Jan always wanted to be in a ballgown, feeling like a princess and the castle fitted that vibe very well! We knew that the castle was stand alone and very little needed to be done or added to it for the wow factor. We wanted to emanate the classic, timeless refined beauty of the castle. For that reason we chose black-tie – classic and timeless.”

Jan’s bridal wardrobe was bursting on the seams with female and fabulous element. She wore a contemporary and romantic robe by Vera Wang with a plunge phantasm neckline and a press release bow on the neckline with tulle fingerless gloves and a glittering crystal and pearl hairband by Victoria Percival. She wore plisse bow metallic heels by Loeffler Randall with the matching bridal clutch which was a shock present her bestie introduced again from the US.

We are so in love with how her women embraced the combo and match bridesmaid costume development and so they seemed bewitching in black. “I told my bridesmaids to pick their favourite dress and designer and just keep with the colour theme of black-tie. It was so important to me that my girls felt their best and showcase their beauty in a style they were comfortable in.” They wore designs from Sinead Keary, Saks Fifth Avenue and Adrianna Papell.

Shane dealt with the planning, together with the reserving of the venue go to, organising the distributors and even arranging a visit to New York City so Jan might discover her dream costume! “The Luttrellstown team later told us that it was quite unique to only meet and speak to the bride quite close to the actual date! To be fair from booking the venue to the wedding date it was only six months. It became a funny joke to hear the reactions of people when we tried to book something and called a vendor in July to hear, ‘For this?! year’ – it just goes to show in can be done (we were very lucky too) and it was meant to be.”

Getting to absorb the magic of her wedding ceremony day together with her family members was unforgettable, Jan displays. “My besties and I doing the first look was very emotional, we were very well organised that morning and even had time for a bedroom photoshoot which was such a highlight. Moments with my mum and dad in the room before the ceremony were really special.”

Setting the proper temper was a giant precedence and so they had 4 completely different musical teams all through the day. With a spine-tingling mixture of piano and violin for his or her ceremony, jazzy sax sounds stuffed the air throughout their champagne reception. “Vladsax brought the energy and followed the bridal party for our post-ceremony pictures which made it so much fun.” The couple additionally had a wonderful dancefloor shock for his or her company, extra on that later.

It would not get extra suave than a grooms social gathering suited and booted in traditional tuxes from Louis Copeland & Sons. Shane’s wedding ceremony wardrobe included a superbly sentimental accent. “He wore his father’s wedding band as we lost him in 2016 so it was really special to have that. Shane also shared a special moment with his mum and family before the ceremony and all of us had his dad in our minds for the day.”

One of Shane’s most treasured moments was seeing his breathtaking bride strolling down the aisle in direction of him. The huge day can go by within the blink of a watch and the couple made positive they have been sharing the expertise collectively. “We frequently spent moments throughout the day to reflect but it was unspoken… a smile or a wink and given that Shane can read my mind we were having full-blown conversations without even speaking.”

They dined by candlelight within the imposing Van Stry Ballroom which is awash with ornate accents. “Speeches in a relaxed format in the Gothic Hall beside the fire place was really special – it kind of just ‘came together’.” They determined to skip the standard wedding ceremony cake choosing a champagne tower as an alternative.

Never lacking an opportunity to bop, the couple made a pledge to one another that they might be the primary on and final off the dancefloor. “Our first dance song was Someone Like You by Van Morrison blurred into Shut up and Dance which was our first song we danced to on our first date! Nanas line is in it ‘born to be together’.”

To social gathering the night time away, Jan donned a second spellbinding costume which had her twinkling with each twirl on the dancefloor. “The incredible, epic Arthur Band created a girls-versus-boys dance-off and Smash Hits came on after the fireworks and played into the wee hours! It’s still spoken about now that it was a surprise for guests and how funny it looked to have the neon lights and 90s gear alongside black-tie and castle vibes.”
